Taungatara Forest Trail Ride
We held this on 7 January 2012, come rain or shine - and rain it
did. Not one rider came back in the same coloured gear as they left
in, they were all mud coloured. Bikes and riders where
unrecognisable, but they all had a smile on their face. Yep, they
said it was great ... tiring but great! A, AA, AAA and B option
trails were available for the range of riders and some areas were
cut from the trail as the day went on for safety. St John was on
site but no riders were seen to.
Guided rides were offered for inexperienced riders, with only a
few younger riders taking up this opportunity. Our committee
member, Greg, took riders through the Novice, 2km trail, which
meanadered through open forestry, up and down, over a bridge and
down to the river bed. Most of the riders had a few stops on the
first few laps but the smiles after they got round the trail
without stopping were wonderful. They were 'hooked'! They can't
wait to get back to the forest for a dry day of riding and testing
their skills on the main track. Thanks Greg for taking the time
with our up and coming riders.
Many asked when the next trail ride would be, as they would like
to ride the trail in the dry, so please watch of website, facebook
and emails for details of when this is happening.
Thanks to all the Marshalls, TVMCC committee, parents (or our
younger riders), you all do a wonderful job and make sure that all
riders enjoy their day.
